Walmart

The biggest chain of supermarkets and discount stores in the world.

📖 Its story

Sam Walton had a little store in a small town in Arkansas and dreamed of selling things cheaper than anyone. In 1962 he opened the first Walmart in Rogers, Arkansas. His idea of low prices every day led him to have stores in many countries, including Mexico.

💵 How it makes money

By selling tons of products with a small profit on each one, and also with memberships like Sam's Club and with advertising.

🤯 Fun fact

In Mexico, Bodega Aurrerá, Walmart and Sam's Club are part of Walmart de México (Walmex).

👍 The good part

Its low prices bring in millions of customers every week.

⚠️ The risk

It makes very little on each product, so if its costs go up, its profits get squeezed.
